What is RUKN?

RUKN is an Islamic app that brings together prayer times, Qibla direction, Quran reading, duas, Hadith, and a Hijri and Gregorian calendar.

Is RUKN available for iPhone, iPad, and Android?

RUKN is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store. Android is coming soon.

Does RUKN show Hijri and Gregorian dates?

Yes. Calendar brings Hijri and Gregorian dates together with prayer times and the agenda for your selected day.

Prayer Times

Prayer times and settings.

Why do prayer times differ between apps?

Apps can use different calculation methods, Asr settings, high-latitude rules, rounding and manual adjustments. Location and timezone also affect the result. Compare the same date, location and settings before treating a difference as an error.

Will RUKN match my local mosque timetable?

Not always. Local mosque timetables may include adjustments or follow a different calculation method. Review your RUKN settings and follow trusted local guidance when times differ.

Where does RUKN get its prayer times?

RUKN uses the Aladhan Prayer Times API. Times reflect the selected location, timezone and calculation settings.

Aladhan calculation documentation

Can I use RUKN for prayer reminders?

Yes. RUKN includes prayer reminders alongside current prayer windows and the next prayer countdown. Enable the required permissions in your device settings; alert behaviour depends on your device and notification settings.

Does RUKN have a prayer times widget?

Yes. On iPhone, the Home Screen widget shows the next prayer, its countdown and the day’s prayer times. The Lock Screen widget shows the next prayer name, time and countdown. Both use your selected location and calculation settings.

Explore prayer times

Do Prayer Times require a RUKN account or show ads?

No. Prayer Times has no separate RUKN account requirement and no ads. You can review how location is used in the Privacy Policy.

Read the Privacy Policy

How do I choose a prayer calculation method?

Choose the prayer-time calculation method for your community. Available methods include Muslim World League, ISNA, Karachi, Umm al-Qura, Singapore, JAKIM, and others. This changes prayer-time calculations, not Qibla direction.

Which Asr school should I select?

Select Shafii or Hanafi to use the corresponding Asr calculation. Match the choice used by your local mosque or authority.

What do high-latitude adjustments do?

Choose Auto, Off, Middle of the Night, One Seventh, or Angle Based. Auto is recommended for most locations. These rules help when Fajr or Isha becomes extremely early, very late, or absent during some seasons.

How do manual prayer-time offsets work?

Adjust Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha individually by adding or subtracting minutes from your selected method. Leave the values at zero unless you need to match a local timetable. Reset All To 0 removes every manual offset.

Does adjusting Hijri special days change prayer times?

Use Standard for the built-in Hijri calendar, or Local Adjustment to shift special-day markers by up to two days forward or back. This adjustment affects Hijri special-day markers only; it does not shift prayer times or Qibla direction.

Qibla

Direction and nearby places.

How do I find Qibla with RUKN?

Open Qibla, allow location access and hold the phone flat. Turn slowly until the angle settles and “Aligned with Qibla” appears. Your location determines the bearing toward the Kaaba; the compass measures which way the device is facing.

Explore Qibla and prayer times

How do I calibrate the Qibla compass?

Open the settings gear and select Compass calibration. Move your phone in a figure-eight motion for 5–10 seconds, keep away from metal, magnets, and large electronics, and place it on a flat surface for best accuracy.

Why does the Qibla compass move or seem unstable?

Magnetic cases, speakers, chargers, vehicles, and metal surfaces can affect heading readings. Move away from interference and recalibrate if the direction is unstable. Use trusted local guidance when a reliable compass reading is unavailable.

Do prayer times, maps and nearby searches need internet?

The first prayer-time refresh needs internet access. Cached prayer times can remain available after setup. Map content and nearby-place searches also need a connection to load new results.

How do I find nearby mosques or halal food?

Choose Mosque Near Me or Halal Food Near Me to search nearby places. Select a result to open directions in Maps. Nearby search results depend on the map provider’s listings.

Does changing prayer settings change Qibla direction?

No. Qibla direction is calculated from your location toward the Kaaba. Calculation methods, Asr settings and manual offsets affect prayer times, not the Qibla bearing.

Prayer time settings

Why does Qibla need location access?

RUKN needs your position to calculate the bearing toward the Kaaba and find prayer times for your area. You control location permission in device settings. RUKN does not use your location for advertising.
