Privacy Policy and user-controlled app permissions

RUKN does not require its own account system, does not run ads in the app, and does not include app analytics or tracking SDKs.
Bundled Quran, dua, Hadith, tafsir, translation, and audio resources are local for in-app use. Network activity includes Aladhan prayer time requests and website analytics, plus Apple services and iCloud/CloudKit on supported Apple devices.
Your controls

You can manage location, calendar, reminders, notifications and other supported permissions in your device settings. Removing the app removes locally stored RUKN data from that device, subject to any device backups you have enabled.

Core privacy posture
Overview
RUKN is built to keep as much of the experience as possible on your device.
RUKN does not require a separate RUKN account, and the app does not use ads, app analytics SDKs, app tracking SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
Bundled Qur'an, dua, hadith, tafsir, translation, and audio resources are stored locally for in-app use.
Permissions and device access
Location
RUKN asks for location when it is needed for prayer times or Qibla features.
The app requests location access while you use it.
When prayer times or the prayer calendar refresh, RUKN sends your precise location and prayer calculation settings to Aladhan to fetch base prayer times. On Apple devices, Apple location and geocoding services may also be used by the system features behind those screens.
You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
Calendar
If you enable calendar integration, RUKN requests access to your device’s calendar so you can view and manage events within the app.
Calendar data stays on your device for in-app display and planning flows.
RUKN does not send your calendar data to a RUKN backend. If you use this feature, RUKN may create calendars on your device for events you manage through the app.
Reminders
If you enable task integration, RUKN requests access to your device’s reminders so you can view and manage tasks within the app.
Reminder data stays on your device for in-app display, planning flows, and the task updates you make in RUKN.
RUKN does not send your reminder data to a RUKN backend. If you use this feature, RUKN may create reminder lists on your device for tasks you manage through the app.
Device features
Widgets and Live Activities
If you enable widgets or Live Activities, prayer timing information can appear on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and other system surfaces.
Widgets can also show last-read Quran progress so you can continue reading quickly. The Next Prayer Live Activity shows the upcoming prayer.
This data is generated on your device and shared with RUKN’s supported widgets and live updates. On Apple devices, this uses Apple’s app group storage.
Optional sync
On Apple devices, if iCloud is available, RUKN can sync your bookmarks, notes, and reading state, including last-read and progress, through your private iCloud account so the same data can appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
This sync uses Apple's CloudKit service in your private iCloud account. RUKN does not run its own sync backend or require a separate account.
If you delete synced items in RUKN, those changes also sync through your private iCloud account.
If iCloud is unavailable, disabled, or you are signed out, RUKN keeps working with the local data stored on that device.
Network and analytics
Diagnostics and network activity
RUKN does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
On Apple devices, if you enable diagnostics sharing, Apple may provide app diagnostics through its own systems.
Current app network activity may include Apple services used by system features, iCloud/CloudKit when sync is available, and Aladhan requests for prayer times and the prayer calendar.
Website analytics
The RUKN website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic website traffic and performance. This helps us see page visits, referrers, device and browser information, and site performance.
RUKN does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, remarketing tags, or cross-site tracking on the website. The RUKN app remains no ads, no separate RUKN account, and no app analytics or tracking SDKs.

Changes to this policy
RUKN may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, website, legal requirements, security practices, or support operations. When the policy changes, the “Last updated” date on this page will be updated so users can review the current version.
